Band Competes in UIL Solo and Ensemble

The Abernathy Band competed at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday. They once again represented Abernathy ISD in grand fashion. They qualified 96 students and earned a total on 144 first Division Medals. Listed below are the ensembles that qualified this weekend. We also had two instrumental soloist qualify as well.

Josh Carrillo on a Bari Sax Solo and Keelan Knight on a Snare Drum Solo. Our Varsity and JV twirling lines qualified as well along with Alicia Cortez, Sarah Martin, Madisson Kemp, April Nelson, and Britton Renfro all qualified on Twirling Solo’s.
These students do a tremendous job in so many things including UIL academic, athletics, stock show, and music just to name a few. They also even find time to go to school. These students have worked very hard and this is a tremendous accomplishment. They will be traveling to Austin at the end of May to compete at the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest.

Antelope Boys Basketball Team Defeats Post

The Abernathy Antelope Boys Basketball team defeated Post in a 43-42 victory on Friday night. They will take on Olton in the bi-district playoff round on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m at Lubbock Cooper.

Abernathy will be the visiting team and ticket prices are $5 for adults and $2 for students.

Antelope Baseball Team Assists Community

To start the Antelope Baseball season, Coach Kris Cavazos and his team greeted Abernathy Elementary students and their families at the beginning of school February 17th. They also assisted teachers, parents and students by carrying classroom materials and walking students to the building. The Antelope Baseball team showed the little lopes what it means to do things the Antelope Way!

Lady Lopes become Area Champs

The Abernathy Lady Lopes became the area champs last night after their 55-41 win over Gruver.

They will play Panhandle in the quarterfinal round at Canyon High School at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. We will be the home team, and ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

The Antelope Boys Basketball Team will take on Post in a 2nd/3rd place seeding game on Friday, February 17th at 6:00pm at Lubbock Roosevelt. Ticket prices will be $3 for adults and $1 for students. Abernathy will be the visiting team.
