Spring STAAR Scores are Now Available

Results for the Spring 2018 STAAR testing have been released. You may access your child’s online STAAR Report Card by visiting the Texas Assessment website at http://www.TexasAssessment.com. Log into the system using your child’s unique Portal Access Code and date of birth.

What if I don’t know my child’s unique access code?
Options:

If your child has taken a STAAR test previously, and you have a STAAR Confidential Student Report, the access code is located at the bottom of that report.
You may look up the unique access code online. To retrieve this code, go to the link stated above. Click on the “WHERE’S MY UNIQUE ACCESS CODE?” link found in the purple box on the Texas Assessment homepage. This will redirect you to the Texas Assessment Data Portal where you will click on “Lookup Access Code” and complete the student information. Note: PEIMS ID is the same as the social security number.
When your child’s unique access code is provided on the page, click the blue “Go” button to view test results.
You may also contact your child's campus to get the unique code.

Introducing Gmail for all Staff!

We are excited to announce that our email server is in the final stages of upgrading. As of Wednesday, May 23rd, our staff e-mail will be running on Google (Gmail). All email addresses for staff will remain the same. This system will provide many new features for e-mail, calendars, contacts and tasks.This will also simplify the communication processes for teachers who are using Chromebooks and Google Classroom.

The Summer Food Service Program ensures children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. The Abernathy ISD Summer Food Service Program will be held in the cafeteria during the dates and times listed below:

Lopes Bring Home 7 Medals From State Track Meet

Congratulations to our Abernathy Lopes and Lady Lopes who brought home seven medals from the state track meet. The girls mile relay placed 3rd, Bryson Daily earned a bronze medal in discus, and in addition to her bronze medal with the mile relay, Cheyenne Shadden placed 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles, and is the state champion in the 300 meter hurdles! What an awesome time to be a Lope!

Congratulations to the Middle School Bands on an Outstanding Contest Season!

The 6th grade band performed at the Abernathy Band Festival on Wednesday, April 24th. They were awarded a division 1 rating from both their concert and sight-reading judges, resulting in a sweepstakes award. They were also selected as the overall Outstanding 6th grade band of the festival! Congratulations to these young musicians for their accomplishments!

The 7th and 8th grade bands performed at the Abernathy Band Festival on Wednesday, April 24th. They were awarded a division 1 rating from both their concert and sight-reading judges, resulting in a sweepstakes award. They were also selected as the overall Outstanding middle school band of the festival!

The 7th and 8th grade bands then traveled to Amarillo, on May 3rd, and put on an “Outstanding” performance at the Greater Southwest Music Festival. They were awarded an “O” for Outstanding from all three of their judges. This is the highest rating given at GSWMF! Congratulations to these fine musicians on a truly fantastic spring!

We are so thankful for the opportunity to work with these fine musicians and could not be more proud of the hard work and dedication they have shown throughout the year.

The 8th grade and HS bands will perform their spring concert on Monday, May 14th at 6:31.

The 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade bands will perform their spring concert on Thursday, May 17th at 6:31.

Our girls track team are the area track team champions, and our boys were area runner-ups! Congratulations to our Abernathy High School Band for winning Sweepstakes at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest today at Wayland Baptist University. This is the 11th consecutive year our band has achieved sweepstakes! Congrats to our outstanding band and the band directors for all of their hard work!

Calendar Revision Reminder

Parents, students and staff, as many of you know, school calendar changes were approved by the board on September 11, 2017.
Here are the highlights of the revisions:
• Graduation has moved! Our AHS graduation is moved from May 25th to May 18th. Please help us spread the word on this revision.
• While teacher days remain at 187 days, the number of student days were reduced by 3-days at the end of May. Last day for students is now Tuesday, May 22nd. We will end the year with a few Staff Development days.
• Our Weather Make-Up day was moved from May 14th to April 2nd. If we do not need to use this weather make-up day prior to April 2nd, staff will get a 4-day Easter weekend.
• Our April 9th Staff Developing/Planning Day was moved to April 16th.

Lady Lope Golf Wins District Championship

The Abernathy Lady Lope golf team won the district championship for the second consecutive year on Monday April 9th at Meadowbrook Golf course. The team members are (l-r):
Freshman Khaki DuBose, Junior Autumn Miller, Senior Kalli DuBose, sophomore Vanessa Miller, and Freshman JoLina Lopez.
