Abernathy ISD Technology Department
Abernathy ISD Technology
Abernathy ISD's Technology includes a variation of Chromebooks and Windows devices. The district implemented a 1:1 Chromebook environment in 2020. This means all students, Pre-K-12, have a student device. Students in fifth grade and up take their devices home to use for homework or virtual assignments and they have access to filtered content on the school owned device while away from campus. The technology department also allows students who do no have access to internet at home to check out CIPA compliant hotspots in the campus offices. Our primary LMS (Learning Management System) is Google Classroom where students can collaborate with their peers and submit assignments digitally. Through the Google Workspace Environment, students also have access to Google Apps, such as Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets and more...
All AISD Classrooms are equipped with Promethean Interactive Flat Panels. In 2021, Abernathy ISD upgraded their wireless infrastructure to include additional access points, switches and a new firewall. In 2022, the COPS Office School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) and the Department of Justice awarded Abernathy ISD a grant that allowed the district to upgrade the school's video surveillance system. This state of the ark, cloud based system was installed in February and March of 2023 to add an additional layer of safety for students, staff and the campus facilities. Through the 2023 School Bond Election as well as the SAFE Grant, Abernathy ISD continues to prioritize school safety as a focus with the addition of silent panic alert technology, visitor management, additional surveillance cameras, radios and access control.
Abernathy ISD has access to a high speed, fiber internet connection with ESC 17 as our internet service provider. All campuses are equipped with an internet connection. Abernathy ISD has approximately 300 Windows devices and 1000 Chrome devices to enable digital learning for our district.
