ATSSB All-State Auditions

Super proud of these students who auditioned at the Area Level of the ATSSB All-State auditions. They competed with the Best of the Best and did an out standing job. They were excellent representatives for an awesome school and an awesome community!

Congratulations to Keelan Knight for finishing first at the Area West ATSSB Auditions on Saturday. He will perform with the ATSSB A-3A All-State Band in San Antonio on February 16, 2019 at the Texas Music Educators Association convention. Thanks for representing Abernathy High School at the highest level!

Antelopes Conclude a Great Football Season

Congratulations to our awesome Abernathy Antelope football team on an incredible run in the playoffs in our first year in 3A! Making it to the State Quarterfinal round speaks very highly of all of the hard work in the off-season and during the season by our players, coaches, managers, & trainers. We are also incredibly proud of the wonderful community support as our crowds were always larger & louder than our opponents! AHS Students Vote for the First Time

A group of seniors from Abernathy High School took a field trip to the polls Tuesday morning. It was the first time they got the chance to exercise their right to vote thanks to their teacher and principal. More than 332,000 Texans between the ages of 18 and 29 voted early marking a 477% increase from the 2014 midterm elections, according to a survey by the data company Target Smart. UIL Regional Congress Meet Results

Abernathy successfully competed in the UIL Regional Congress meet in Lubbock on November 1. Cade Simmons, Jackie Biggs and Avery Myatt were the three team members. Novelei Martinez and Elizabeth Bloys were alternates.
Jackie placed first; Cade placed second and Avery placed second alternate to state.
State competition for Congress will be held in Austin in January.
Practice started in August with the submitting of bills/resolutions for the contest. Two of Abernathy's bills were accepted and research began for the twenty bills for the contest. The contest was two three hour sessions ran in the format of Congress. 3A and 6A (Frenship) were in the same chamber. 3A also had Denver City and Muleshoe competing.

Abernathy Elementary Gets Recognition from TASP

Abernathy Elementary was spotlighted by the Texas Association of School Psychologists for their school theme this year: "Do Good Together". They have implemented social and emotional learning concepts and school-wide behavior supports to foster a pro-social school climate. Teachers have shared reasons why they continue to contribute to public education. Great work, Abernathy Elementary!

District Cross Country Results

Congratulations to the Abernathy Cross Country teams! Our varsity girls were district champions and are headed to regionals. Our varsity boy team was district runner-up and are also headed to regionals. The JV girls were district champs with a perfect score of 15! It's a great day to be an Abernathy Antelope!

This week's Pep Rally on Friday, October 12th will start at 2:15pm in the Antelope Gym. This Pep Rally is a little earlier than usual so we can get our football players and others headed south as we take on Stanton. Go Lopes!

Auxiliary members Compete at WTAC

Auxiliary members of the Abernathy Antelope Band competed at the West Texas Auxiliary Competition Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018.

The Color Guard placed 3rd in the 3A division. JoLina Lopez performed a guard solo and received an excellent rating. Members of the Abernathy Color Guard are Anysia Contreras, Socorro Duran, JoLina Lopez, Makaela Muse, Katryna Skinner and Jennifer Wheatley.

The Drum Majors also performed as an ensemble and received a superior rating. Drum Majors for the 2018-2019 Antelope Marching Band are Cade Simmons, Grant Moore, and Craig Schueler.

Twirling Lines from Abernathy received multiple awards. The Middle School Line, Junior Varsity Line and Varsity Line all received a division 1 and were awarded 1st place within their divisions. Each twirler also performed a solo and received a superior rating.

Abernathy Twirling had two groups perform a duet at the competition. Isabel DeAnda and Kamberon Sandoval won the Outstanding Middle School Ensemble award; Taelor Liess and Kendall Simmons won the Outstanding High School Ensemble award for the 3rd consecutive year.

As a result of the twirlers success, the Abernathy Twirling Lines were named the Overall Outstanding Small School Twirling Line.

Our team shop for Antelope Hoops is open until 10/15 at the web address on the flyer attached. This is a great way for subvarsity players to get their shoes! If a player chooses to get different shoes they need to have only maroon, white, grey, & black on them. Anyone can order!
