House Bill 3 recently allowed Abernathy ISD to reduce our tax rate, and as a result, we were able to bring it down just over 10 cents. The board approved a resolution to approve the 2019 Tax Rate at $1.3983 ($1.0683 M&O and $0.33 I&S).

All Incoming 1st through 5th Graders are invited to come learn the fundamentals, skills and techniques necessary to become a productive football player.

The 6th grade band performed at the Abernathy Band Festival on Wednesday, April 24th. They were awarded a division 1 rating from both their concert and sight-reading judges, resulting in a sweepstakes award.

The 7th and 8th grade bands performed at the Abernathy Band Festival on Wednesday, April 24th. They were awarded a division 1 rating from both their concert and sight-reading judges, resulting in a sweepstakes award. They were also selected as the overall Outstanding middle school band of the festival!

The 7th and 8th grade bands then traveled to Amarillo, on May 2nd, and put on an “Outstanding” performance at the Greater Southwest Music Festival. They played a beautiful concert and were awarded an "Outstanding" rating from all three of their judges. This is the highest rating given at GSWMF! Congratulations to these fine musicians on a truly fantastic spring!


We are so thankful for the opportunity to work with these young musicians and could not be more proud of the hard work and dedication they have shown throughout the year.

The 8th grade and HS bands will perform their spring concert on Tuesday, May 14th at 6:31.

The 5th, 6th, and 7th grade bands will perform their spring concert on Thursday, May 16th at 6:31.

On June 12th, parents can access their child’s STAAR results and a suite of other resources to support summer learning at home by visiting www.texasassessment.gov. There you will need your child’s unique access code. You can access it by following the link located on their site, by going to the parent link on our district website or by going to www.abernathisd.com/staar/ . We will also be receiving paper copies of the STAAR Report Card or SRC and distribute them this summer. Click on the flyer for specific instructions.

Nathan Sullivan wins the Texas Tech Alumni Association scholarship in the amount of $2500 tonight at the National Football Federation and College Football Hall of Fame banquet at the Overton Hotel in Lubbock. This honors scholar athletes in West Texas.
