Abernathy Does Well at San Antonio Ag Mechanics Marketplace Show

The students construct an Ag Mechanics project and then try to sell it. Only the top twenty teams get to go to the auction. The competition is broken up in to several categories. First the project is judged for quality and safety which makes up 50% of the final score. Then the Ag sales team takes a written examination and tries to sell the product.
This year Abernathy FFA constructed a large hay bale and ring feeder mover. 63 projects were entered into the completion, with only 30 getting through the sift. Of those 30 only 20 made it to the sale. We were very excited to be the 11th consignment. The project was constructed by Jonah Lopez, Jayton Grisham, Parker Redwine, Gus Diver (Gus was unable to attend because of an Area Championship basketball game). These four outstanding young men are exceptionally good welders.
The Ag Sales team is made up of Kalli DuBose, Khakhi Dubose, Kodi Dubose, and Michaela Taylor. The team was coached by Bill DuBose. The team chaperone, fashion coordinator, encourager, chauffeur, and basically every other activity you can think of was Jarah DuBose. We were extremely excited that all three sisters could be on one team before Kalli graduated. And to top it all off, placing 3rd at a state level contest was icing on the cake.
Also showing at San Antonio was Brett Barton, Noah Hernandez, Arty Lopez and Braden Kitchens. Abernathy FFA would like to thank everyone who had a part in our success – Wylie Manufacturing for donating the plates for the 3 point hitch and all the parents for their help
